Top Books for Advance Second and Third Grade Readers

October 9, 2017 in Raising Readers
Books your advanced second and third grader will love

My oldest has started reading at a much faster pace since the school year began. I believe children should be encouraged to read whatever interests them, as this will help them develop an interest in reading. With my son in particular, it required us checking out sports biographies and sports books in general before he started to branch out to other things. Instead of constantly stressing over the subject matter, I really wanted him to develop a natural love of reading, so we spent two years reading many of the same books over again.

Now that he has progressed, it has become a challenge to find more complex books for him that are still appropriate for his maturity level. Content appropriate books for 7-9-year-olds while not difficult, it did take some time to find things I felt were appropriate for my son.

The reason I became more interested in books was due to the fact that we could not find anything that interested him. Of course, there’s the illustrated Harry Potter series. I highly recommend those, but we still needed to find a plethora of books that he could choose from.

If you have an advanced second or third grader take a look at the list below. We have fallen in love with a lot of these series/books and I’m sure you will too!
