Like most families, the kitchen is one of the rooms in the home that is used the most. In our home, the kitchen has been a great source of memories; whether it’s laughing during a weekday meal, in the kitchen watching my grandmother cook for holidays, or sharing a first birthday cake with one of our kids; this room is one of the few that are certain to always bring us together.
It’s because of this, that I when we moved, it was also the first room that we updated. Since we are currently renting, we couldn’t do major permanent fixes, however, we were able to do a few fixes that allowed us to make and keep it as one of the favorite rooms in our home.

Change Cabinet Hardware
Updating the kitchen cabinets is one of the quickest things that you can do to change the look of your kitchen exponentially. If you aren’t up to painting your cabinets or if you like how the cabinets look, try updating the hardware. Updating the knobs or other hardware is inexpensive and can transform your kitchen in a heartbeat.
Add a Backsplash
A backsplash can transform a kitchen in ways you wouldn’t imagine. The best part is there are so many options available, that you don’t need to hire a professional to come in and do it. Whether you want to do peel and stick backsplash or traditional, there is something out there from every DIY level. With many styles of backsplash available, from trendy and modern to a more minimalist feel, you can find something that you will love. Update Lighting
Having the right lighting in your kitchen is extremely important. You need great lighting not only for cooking, but you also want to make sure you have it during mealtime as well. The kitchen is one of the few places in the home that offers a wide variety of options of where you can place the lights in order to achieve a great look. From sconces to pendants; whether over the kitchen sink, dining room table or a center island-the options are endless. No matter what you choose, the right lighting fixture update will dramatically change the look of your kitchen.
While this can be a very simple DIY fix for your kitchen, it can be one of the most expensive. There are some inexpensive options such as peel and stick wood flooring (yes, you read that correctly). Whichever method you choose or flooring you choose, your kitchen is sure to look gorgeous after this amazing update.

Love the easy options for a quickie update! And the blue on that first kitchen! It’s amazing what a few choice changes can do to a room- and especially one as used as a kitchen.
These are all great tips. I got lucky that my kitchen came with a gorgeous backsplash and good lighting. But one of the first things we did was get new hardware to add to the cabinets and it made such a difference in the look of our kitchen!
Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love that you did blue cabinets!
