As a young woman, I always desired to be married. I dreamed of my wedding and was excited to plan for the perfect wedding day. I desired to have a marriage that represented Christ.
Sometimes we allow what we see (natural eyes) and hear from people become a distraction. That distraction, which is the enemy trying to take you away from the original intent of marriage, will now become your burden.
Ephesians 5:21-28 KJV
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”
When Adam and Eve rebelled, it not only disconnected them from God; it disconnected them from each other. You cannot have the kind of intimacy God wants you to have with your spouse without having intimacy with God first. When you’re disconnected from God, there’s no way you’re going to be fully connected the way God meant for you to be as a husband and wife.
Intimacy: the state of being intimate, familiarity; something of a personal or private nature.
The husband is the Passenger on God’s favor. He that finds a wife…
“He who finds a [ true and faithful] wife finds a good thing And obtains favor and approval from the LORD.”
You have to begin to watch what you allow through your gates (eyes, ears, mouth) and the gates of your home. Everyone cannot have access.
Both the husband and wife have to be connected to God.
1 Peter 3:7 AMP
“In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective.”
When both the husband and wife understand the roles and order God has placed for the family, they will be heirs together, respecting one another, and two walking as one.
Don’t allow people to pollute your mind about YOUR marriage. If you are single, don’t allow the world or other people’s marriage pollute your view of marriage. How you see, and what you say will either have a positive or negative impact.
“Vision is the ability to see potential in what others overlook.”
Don’t overlook the potential in your marriage, See it how God sees and it will be a blessing not a burden.
