It’s raining outside today, so the kids are a little down about not being able to play with their new Christmas toys (outside toys of course). So I decided to get a little bit creative! This is a fun activity that the kids can do and it literally gave them hours of fun this morning!
Ingredeints
- Corn Starch
- Yogurt w/o fruit chunks
Directions
- Mix 1 cup of yogurt and a 3/4 cups of corn starch.
- Stir until complete mixed. Once mixed you can roll it into a ball.
Here are a couple of hints: If the putty is dry, add more yogurt too it (be careful not to add too much at one time). If the putty is extra stick or too wet, try adding more constarch. Once again only add a little bit at a time.
If you want to jazz things up a bit, add food coloring as well and make different colors of putty!
If you try this out, let me know how it goes in the comment box!

I would have never thought to use yogurt for silly putty! What an awesome idea!
Hmm interesting. How long does this last?
This is crazy! And so easy! Does it get dirty or stringy easily?

No it doesn’t. As long as you add enough cornstarch it should be fine.
My kids were able to play with it off and on for about six hours, before I had to throw it away. While they were napping, I kept it in a sealed container in the fridge. I wouldn’t try to keep it more than a day.
How neat. I would have never thought to use yogurt in putty.
I will have to share this with my sister, who always seems to have “about to turn” yogurt in her refrigerator and two granddaughters who I know would have a blast playing with this.
Thank you so much for sharing!

I did use expired yogurt to make this! I was cleaning out the fridge and so I figured, waste not want not!
My daughter has been asking for silly putty! How fun to make it ourselves
