Nearly 13 years since ‘Finding Nemo”, Dory is finally getting her very own and much anticipated film. We had a chance to catch an early screening of “Finding Dory” and it was definitely worth the wait.
“Finding Dory” takes moviegoers of all ages on a journey through Dory’s backstory and her search to find her parents. Dory voiced by comedian Ellen DeGeneres definitely gives us quite a few laughs, and even a few tears in this film.
Old Friends and Clever New Friends
She is joined on her quest by none other than Marlin and Nemo, and along the way she makes several new friends. My favorite was Becky, but once you see the movie, you’ll learn why she is my favorite. Of course we also get to meet an old favorite-but I won’t spoil who it is!
Our entire family enjoyed this movie. There weren’t too many inappropriate jokes in this film, and we all found ourselves laughing hysterically in the theaters! 1 year old Sarah even sat quietly for a majority of the film, which made us pretty impressed. Of course she didn’t last the entire movie, but we were glad that she made it as long as she did. There was nothing in this film that was too scary, but at one point Nemo, Marlin and Dory are chased-which did make my 3 year old jump (but she reassured me she wasn’t scared).
My favorite part of this film, is that is highlighted Dory’s disability and the fact that she was able to work through it. This was an important teachable moment that I believe all moviegoers no matter their age could benefit from. All of the characters have something “different” about them, but the movie does an amazing job pointing out how it makes each one of them unique, and how they all could help Dory.
Before I spill the beans on anything else with this film, let’s get to Andrew and Isla’s review on this film!
