As adults and as parents it can seem like we’re so far from our childhoods, however, some of my favorite memories as a kid include me waking up early on holidays eagerly anticipating the arrival of our family members coming from out of town (and my grandma’s macaroni and cheese that we would no doubt have for dinner).
There was absolutely no doubt, that no matter what time dinner was supposed to start, I could always count on it starting at least two hours later. However, my mom always made sure that we had a holiday brunch-fest, which included all of our breakfast favorites in a casserole that we could eat that morning.
Of course, mom always prepped her special holiday breakfast the night before–there was no way she was going to let the oven be occupied for any reason outside of preparing dinner.
One of my favorite recipes that I now make for my own kids is actually named after my mom! Ann’s Holiday Casserole is a simple mix of Jimmy Dean® refrigerated pork sausage, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese, eggs, and crescent rolls. If you want to make this wonderful traditional holiday casserole, I definitely recommend that you treat your family and buy premium Tyson® products this holiday season. For the last 29 years, I have looked forward to this every holiday season. Even as an adult we still head over to my mom’s house for breakfast Christmas morning just so we can have this meal!
Not only is my mom’s special holiday casserole a perfect go to, but my husband has also thrown one of his own creation into the mix, and it has also become another family favorite. Last year, we added a third casserole to the rotation by allowing the kids to make one of their favorite items added! With multiple meals and multiple times to bring joy, for our family, sticking with our holiday traditions (as well as adding new ones) creates lasting memories that our children are now beginning to create as well. During a busy season with numerous mouths to feed, Tyson® products are perfect for all cooking occasions and all holiday season long.

1 package Jimmy Dean® Refrigerated Sausage
1 canister of crescent rolls
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup of milk
- Preheat oven to 375. Heat a skillet on medium high. Chop sausage into chunks and cook until browned on all sides. If needed you can continue to break sausage into smaller pieces. When lightly browned, remove from pan to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess fat.
- In a large bowl combine milk, eggs, salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Whisk together.
- Line baking dish with crescent dough, pinching seams together as you go.
- Layer chopped sausage and cheese on top of dough.
- Pour milk, egg mixture evenly on top of cheese, sausage and crescent dough.
Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes.
