A few weeks ago we traveled to Bluffton, SC for a quick getaway. Nothing fancy or planned, but a little giveaway to give us the chance to reconnect as a couple! We have been to the area plenty of times before with our kids, and I was more than excited to go back with just Chris and me so that we could actually relax! (If you’ve ever tried to vacation with kids, then you completely understand!)
Bluffton, SC is one of our favorite low country destinations. It’s not far from Hilton Head, and this beautiful off the beaten path community gives this country girl (and her city guy) all they need for a relaxing vacation (or even daycation).
The Lowcountry at a glance
When traveling to this area its difficult to pick which place you actually want to visit and stay. For us, the Lowcountry signifies so much history and charm that you won’t find anywhere else in the world (no matter how hard you tried). From the beautiful and scenic riverfronts to beaches. Plus you have your choice of the Beaufort,SC or Savannah, GA area (as they both are stones throw from each other), and it’s like you never skipped a beat!
What we did
We didn’t have a whole lot planned since this was very impromptu on our part. Whenever Chris and I throw together last minute trips for ourselves, we try to throw in as many fun activities as possible (i.e. eating), while also being able to relax! This trip was the perfect mix of those things!
One of my favorite activities was being able to take advantage of ZipLine Hilton Head! We had never gone zip lining before (and it was nearly impossible to get photos since it was a last minute thing), but I had an absolute blast!
Where we ate
We couldn’t be in the area without visiting our all-time favorite Hudson’s on the Docks! There is something about this place that just makes me fall in love with the south and everything around the area all over again!
If you followed along with our live videos you saw how much fun Chris and I had, as well as many of the activities that we had a chance to do. But what I really wanted to share with you is these beautiful photos that I took in Bluffton.
Where to stay
Palmetto Bluffs is a private area, so while I can’t recommend this particular place for anyone to stay, there are so many beautiful places within Bluffton, Hilton Head, Tybee, or even Savannah that you can stay.
If you are new to the area and want to experience an amazing taste of beautiful southern charm, I highly recommend checking out the Old Town Bluffton Inn once they open. I have been following this particular place for several months now, and I am excited to try them out once they finally start accepting reservations.
There is also the Cuthbert House Inn which is a beautiful 200-year-old historic antebellum mansion. If you are looking for the southern charm, with a more modern twist, then Anchorage 1770 is a perfect choice! It’s a gorgeous waterfront inn located on the Beaufort River.
