During the summer most people don’t think to actively disinfect toys and areas of their home because it’s not cold or flu season.
However, as a mom of four very active and busy kids, the summertime is when I find myself spraying, cleaning and sanitizing areas of our home the most. Being home all day, the kids seem to get into more and even though it’s mostly them, I have a tendency to notice just how dirty their little hands get, and just how germy they can really be.
To get all of the surfaces in my home clean, we use PURELL® products. From hand soap to the multi-surface cleaner, I trust that we are helping to prevent the spread of most illness-causing germs in our home.
If you’ve followed my blog, then you know that PURELL® Multi-Surface Disinfectant is my favorite household go-to product.

Areas of my home that I make sure to tackle during the summertime
My kids are constantly in and out of the house because they love to play outside. This means all of digging in the dirt, chasing frogs and whatever else they like to do outside, that can be seen, felt and even smelled (yuck!) all over there tiny hands. Keeping the doorknobs clean helps to keep the nasty’s at bay.
Behind sink faucets
I have no idea if mine are the only ones who seem to let water, toothpaste and all other kinds of grime pool behind the faucet in their bathroom. I don’t know what it is, but I promise, during the summer it’s one hundred times worse! I can only guess because they are home all day and it’s four kids in and out of the bathroom, that it happens a lot quicker than normal.
Kitchen table on top and underneath
Because they are home all day, the table gets used at least 5-6 times daily. So I am constantly disinfecting my kitchen table as well as my girl’s snack table.
Other areas that make sure to disinfect:
- Cabinet handles
- Fridge Handle
- Freezer Handle
- Toys-especially the outdoor ones
Tackling hands as soon as they walk in
When the kids come in from outside, I make sure that I getting their hands right away. PURELL® Advanced Hand Sanitizer. It kills 99.99% of illness-causing germs on hands, helping to reduce the spread of germs that can make you sick. It’s great to keep in the purse when we are out at the park, zoo or beach as it’s a quick and easy way to make sure their hands are getting cleaned.
