Messes are bound to happen when you have kids.
No biggie right? It is an unspoken hazard of the job. However, it seems that no matter how much you clean, does it seem as if you aren’t making any progress.
Cleaning is almost an art form. But believe it or not, there is a wrong way you could be doing it. If you feel like things aren’t getting done, there may be some mistakes that you are making, keep reading for the top five.
Using dirty cleaning tools
If you are cleaning it’s imperative that you use clean tools. Be sure that you are washing cleaning cloths, scrubbing brushes, and mop heads on a regular basis. Also clean vacuum filters between every use. If you use disposable wipes, cloths, and dusters, while handy, remember that they are only good for single use ( and change it as you go from room to room). By not doing so you could be making things worse by spreading around bacteria. This is especially true in the kitchen (think Salmonella or E. coli). Even places that you don’t think need to be cleaned such as the washing machine should be. Washing machines should be cleaned as body soil can be redeposited leaving laundry smelling awful.
Cleaning wrong altogether
Who really wants to spend all day cleaning?
If you answered no one, well I am sure you are correct. Going from room to room cleaning can be a tedious job. However, the key to making sure the job is done thoroughly and correctly the first time. It’s easiest to start at the top of the room and work down. This means as much as you want to start by cleaning the floor first, don’t. Start by dusting, cleaning off high areas, and then move to the floor last. This way if you have to knock anything down to the floor, you won’t do so on an area that has already been cleaned.
Using the Wrong Products
Using a product that isn’t strong enough to do the job can mean you have leftover dirt and the task will have to be repeated. Sarah loves to eat lunch at her table in her bedroom. However, she always makes a mess on her table.
