Your Kids Can Code with the JIMU UnicornBot Kit

November 28, 2018 in 2018 Holiday Gift Guide, STEM for KIDS

Thank you UBTECH for sponsoring this post. JIMU Robots are a fun way to bring robotics into kid’s day to day and make the perfect gift you can feel good about gifting to the children in your lives this holiday season!

Everywhere we look now our kids have access to technology in various ways. As parents, it’s up to us to decide and ensure that we are making sure that our kids not only have fun while using it, but also that we are providing them a healthy balance of being exposed to the educational opportunities that technology has to offer as well.

If you have been following my blog for some time, then it is no secret how much I love ALL THINGS related to STEM. I regularly make sure that my kids are exposed to it and love learning about fun products that allow them to not only have fun but to work on skills that I know will be helpful for them as they get older.

One of those skills that I always make sure that my kids get to work on is coding.

Growing up with a mom who worked in IT for over 20 years, I learned early on (earlier than many of my peers) that computers were definitely the way of the future. I already knew some coding while in high school and by college self-taught myself even more of it.

Since I have had kids, I have been working with them making sure they have the opportunity to learn the same. Whether through books, coding programs, camps, and even toys.

Toys?

Yep! One thing that I learned early on was that I had to find a way to ensure my kid’s interests were peaked. What better way to do that than by finding them a fun toy that I know they will absolutely love and that also doubles as a learning activity.

JIMU UnicornBot

The JIMU UnicornBot is a fun robot that kids 8+ can build and code all on their own! The day after Thanksgiving, Isla and I sat down to build the UnicornBot, and it was an amazing experience! Not only were we building our very own robot, but it was a great bonding experience for mother and daughter!

Building the robot did take us a bit of time to do, but it was completely worth it! The JIMU app is especially great since the directions to build are in 3D! This means you can zoom in/out, turn, flip the models in all directions to make sure you are building it correctly (this can in handy because I found myself doing this quite a bit!).

JIMU relies on three steps to get kids intrigued by their robots: Building, Coding, and Playing. For parents who are familiar with STEM (and those who aren’t), this aligns with STEM learning. This means as a parent you can feel great about purchasing this fun tech product for your kids, as it also doubles as a great learning experience!

Another cool feature of JIMU robots? You don’t have to build only what’s on the box! Isla and Andrew wanted to build something different, and that’s exactly what they have been doing!

The JIMU UnicornBot makes the perfect gift this holiday season! You can pick them up from Target and give the ultimate gift this holiday season! Want to see it in action! Check out our building and unboxing video below!
