Bloom is one woman’s restorative quest toward love. Yet, through bare as bones poems, narrative, essays and brief meditations, it proves to be healing for you, too, if you’ve ever looked at yourself and cringed at the not so beautiful. Bloom seeks release and acceptance. It is an act of utter vulnerability with the hope of giving you the freedom to sprout gracefully into your most magical self, understanding that every experience, lapse in judgment, and fall from grace has led you right back to you.

As my daughter gets ready to head off to school, she (and I) have been filled with a lot of anxiety. When we first talked about whether or not she should start preschool, there were many things that crossed our minds. Was she ready? Even if she is ready, is preschool necessary? Needless to say, I wanted more time to spend at home with her before she started school, and I felt she just needed to be a kid a little bit longer. In my mind, children need time to dig in the dirt for no reason other than digging in the dirt. The sooner she was rushed off to school, the more I felt as if she was losing this time to just be a kid. In the end, I realized I was being a bit selfish, and well irrational.
To help ease our anxiety of her starting school, I have made sure over the last several months to work with her on these primary skills that she will need in order to be successful in school. Along the way, we have found some really awesome books that have helped as well, and are the perfect addition to any home library.
Instead of holding a phone or tablet in your face, sometimes you have to keep it old school and read a newspaper.
Social media is a gift and a curse. I often find myself spending hours on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, simply chatting with others (it’s kind of my job). However, the hours that I spend in front of my laptop, iPad, or on my cell phone, are doing some serious damage to my overall well-being. On top of that, it is also ruining your skin.
I am always looking for ways to improve my health.
This post is kind of a motivational kick in the pants for me. As I am typing this, I am eating a bowl of pasta and drinking a Coca-Cola. While not the unhealthiest combination, it’s not the healthiest either. I’ve been a kind of a rut lately, and while I generally try and stay cognizant of what I put into my body, this summer has been a little different.
The stress of life and the ends and outs of my being a chauffeur (yay summer break) has taken a toll on me. Although there are days where I am able to actually take my own advice and make sure I am implementing my self-care practices regularly, I will be the first to admit that there are weeks that go by when I don’t do it at all.
Busy couples are nothing new. It seems that more and more, I read about how difficult it is for partners to fit in enough time for one another, without taking away time from something (or someone, i.e. kids) else.
If I’m not working on one of my two blogs or handling 1983 (my small shop), then there is the never-ending duty of being mom and wife. My husband’s super busy 70 hour week work schedule, frequently keeps him away from home. All of this means that it is often little to no time for him and me to spend together. Some weeks we are lucky if we can even sit down and enjoy a movie together.
Over the years Audrey has acquired a lot of princess dresses. I started finding dresses on eBay, then one day while planning a shoot for a client I came across an amazing vendor on Etsy Heartfelt Costumes. She made some amazing dresses for my client’s fairy tale shoot and since I have ordered several more dresses from her.
Unfortunately, she’s on hiatus until next year (sad face), but there are a several other amazing Etsy vendors I highly recommend that I want to share.
Summer is in full swing, and if you are like me, that means you are going to have lots kids coming over to play! This means with lots of kids, of varying ages coming in and out of my home, it’s imperative we keep the essentials stocked throughout the house!
Having friends, true friends can be a wonderful feeling. The bond that you create can often last a lifetime. These are the people who are there for you through the good times and the bad. They are the shoulder to cry on when you need it. And if you’ve ever had one of those nights, well they can hold your hair back as you are puking your guts out into a toilet.
If you are looking for ways to boost your metabolism outside of exercise and proper sleeping habits, here are some foods that may do the trick.
Eating properly not only will help you lose or maintain weight, but it also gives you a natural energy kick, that is much healthier than the two cups of coffee you may find yourself chugging in the morning just to stay awake.

Getting up and out in the morning can be an incredibly daunting task. Personally, I hate waking up at 5 am, however, since the kids school district decided it would be a great idea to have buses come at 6:30am, I kind of don’t have a choice.
